The Dodge logo uses the Gestalt principles of closure and proximity to create the company’s signature ram image. Although all of the lines used to create the ram image are not touching, their proximity allows us to see what they make up — a ram. Closure also allows us to infer the ram has horns, even though the lines creating the horns are not complete.
I also think the use of similarity, in this case with the color red, quickly brings our attention to the overall message of the logo. If the ram was composed of multiple colors, it might be harder for us to understand what the logo is right away. The red color also conveys a feeling of domination and strength, which is the message Dodge wants to send about their vehicles. Seeing this logo leads us to believe the product being sold is durable and powerful.
At the same time, the use of curved line to create the ram image also shows that the company is approachable. If only sharp, straight lines were used in conjunction with the red color, I think the logo and therefore the brand would come off as overly harsh and unwelcoming.
