Objectified reminds you that every product made and designed had a lengthy process behind its making. Sometimes the way an item is designed can change the way you use it, compared to an item with a same purpose. Other times, a specific detail of design can be overlooked by the user, because they don’t think the same way as the designer. For example, the toothpick that has the breakable part on the top is an object I never knew how to use entirely correctly until seeing how the designer intended it to be used.
It shows that designers have a different perspective on the world then the general public and that everything has its purpose. No feature is there by chance. There was a long thought process behind adding that element that probably passed through multiple people and was probably modified multiple times. We don’t realize how much thinking there is behind these designs. This movie opened my eyes a bit more to the world of design.
