One thing that people may not know when looking at a design is the amount of work and thought that was put into developing that design. Even the most simplest and basic designs have gone through extremely extensive and elaborate thought and that is what is ultimately shown in the film, “Objectified”. Some designers wonder why there are objects in the world with poor design structures, such as an uncomfortable chair; and those designers even wonder why people sit in those chairs when there are such better designed objects in the world.
Another interesting aspect of the film is when a few designers discuss the Japanese toothpick, and its intricate design. This really proved that graphic design essentially translates and goes hand in hand with industrial design. The design of this toothpick also shows how today designers continue to make new versions of a product until the very best version has been made.
