Objectified Learning

I found the movie Objectified very intriguing because of the similarities in different forms of design. Before watching the movie I wouldn’t have seen any similarities between Industrial and Graphic design. However, after watching it is apparent that there are many similarities between the two. For example, the importance of hierarchy, “good” design traits, trying different combinations, and having everything tell a story are the four main similarities outlined in the film.

Another specific aspect of the film I found interesting was the toothbrush example. I never would have thought there was so much design implemented in the creation of a toothbrush. The film examined the importance behind design no matter what the object is. I think people often overlook how much design detail is apparent in their everyday lives. I can say first hand that I’ve overlooked the lengths designers have gone through to design objects and other creations.
