Practice makes perfect

A wise mother once told me, “If you do things right the first time, you won’t have to do it again.” Clearly shes never taken GRA.217. After reading all the blog posts about what each student learned last semester, I can definitely say this class seems even more intimidating. I will surely be spending endless hours working on each project just to revise it and go through the process all over again. And while nerve wracking, at the same time, its okay. Most things worth having don’t come easy and this is no exception.

The most useful advice I could pull from the posts emphasized patience, time management, and repetition. All qualities necessary to hone and perfect skills.

Through all the countless hours lost staring down a blank Photoshop canvas, students that took this class have gained much more. Besides the general knowledge of Adobe software, they’ve learned to look at the world through the lens of a graphic designer. They have gained the ability to critically analyze the style of a good design and understand the process required to create it. By the end of this course, I want that ability.

All in all, I look forward to the process.
